"In the 1990s, when personal printers first took off, advocates imagined a future with a printer attached to every laptop, and a centralized household printer that delivered your morning newspaper and snail mail. That never happened."


Yes...  because we began leaning toward paperless comunication and electronic documents are easier to transport.  This has nothing to do with something like a lid, or replacement part that could be printed and used as needed.  It's compareing apples to hammers.  There is STILL a printer in almost every house.


That being said, I think there is a bit of a wait before we see the 3d Printer adoption at the home level.  There needs to be additional infrastructure before that happens.
