LV Johnston's curator insight, March 23, 2013 7:35 AM

Infographics are fast becoming the way to share details and analytics that move way beyond the standard pie charts used by many businesses in terms of "telling the story".

Here's another good example that highlights the importance of social media for content creators and how the smartphone platforms must be considered when creating content. It's not just a smartphone anymore, it's become the canvas!

People are not quick to realize the potential that will emerge from the Makers Movement. Yes, the ability to hit a "make" button from your desktop as simply as it is for you hit the "print" button may not be...

Digital materials reduce fabricational complexity

The advantage of simulating with the latest digital materials

Set Sail's insight:

The ability to digitally model materials and new compounds is enabling a long sought after reduction in fabricational complexity.

As new materials can be modeled on the nano or micro scale, and the modeling can shed light on the assembly process and interaction, we can now "see" new ways to fabricate components and assemblies.

The new functionalities introduced by 3D modeling and the ability to quickly check with 3D printing mean interfaces and design intent representation are easier to emulate and optimize.

It's snowing tomorrow in Boston, but manufacturing innovation is very much in the sun :)

Enjoy !

I'm very interested in this. There are a ton of solutions that really fit well for an in-car experience. The key for the App developers is to make compelling Apps that make sense and work well from within the car.
I love that this will result in Apps that let me better engage, use, and understand my particular vehicle, it's location, and what can be done with it.
I'm glad Ford has taken a open approach and not start with some closed

proprietary system.

ComplexInsight's curator insight, March 11, 2013 12:29 PM

While initial focus will likely be apps for in car entertainment and information services, the open sourcing of the API's adds a lot of potential for smart telematics apps that better help with traffic management, environmental reporting etc as well. Be worth tracking this.
