23 Things in Medical & Health Libraries

Here are the Things that we will be exploring during the 23 Things for Professional Development course this summer. There is real a mixture of stuff: some web 2.0 and/or social media gadgets and gizmos, and some ways of developing your career by more 'traditional', less technology-focussed, means. Throughout the programme will be emphasising how these Things can help your professional development, although you're likely to find lots of tools useful in other ways, too! We are taking the Things at a slightly slower pace this time around, although the original posts from last year will remain in place if you prefer to go at your own pace.

This blog is created to support the Workshop: "New technologies - Web 2.0 for libraries" in Petrozavodsk, June 2011.

Objectives of the workshop is to explore and learn about the web 2.0 technologies and to be able to use these technologies in daily work. The 2011 version has two sessions of 4 hours and will address partly "old", already discussed topics from the 2009 version, but also we will tackle new topics about Web 2.0 and the practical use of tools and technologies

This workshop will allow for the collaborative development of a 23 Things programme for European health information librarians. The Things will be selected from after a crowd sourcing exercise prior to the conference. The results of this will seed the workshop and the programme itself will be tailored by the workshop attendees, flexible according to the needs and expectations of the EAHIL cohort, and dynamic. Issues of content, language, promotion and maintenance will be explored. The programme will be launched for all EAHIL members at a plenary session during the conference itself.
