10 of the Best iPhone Apps for Translating Languages

10 of the Best iPhone Apps for Translating Languages | 21st Century Technology Integration | Scoop.it

Language is a wonderful thing. It is the common thread that binds entire societies, allowing ease of communication and understanding. Finding yourself in a situation where you are unable to adequately communicate, on the other hand, is extremely frustrating. Whether you are travelling abroad or seeking to learn a new language, the more tools you have at your disposal the better.

Life is Edu-good!

Life is Edu-good! | 21st Century Technology Integration | Scoop.it
Another month of 2013 has gone by and once again, I am reminded of the many awesome aspects of my life—both personally and professionally—all because of taking the time to join the #edugood 365 Photo Project. For those of you new to the concept, it’s the opportunity to spend a year documenting and sharing all of the positive happenings in your classroom—and life—through the lens of a camera and an awesome “cool tool” such as ShutterCal, a web resource and app that allows users to create a photo-based calendar.

Monkey Around with Math Chimp

Monkey Around with Math Chimp | 21st Century Technology Integration | Scoop.it

Almost a year ago I wrote about a pretty neat web resource named Math Chimp, a collection of online math activities organized by grade level and/or objectives found in the Common Core State Standards.

So, what does this mean for you as a classroom teacher? Well, for starters—no more endless searching the web for the best site to teach, practice and/or reinforce a particular math skill.

Today I get to collaborate with my peers to explore and share iPad apps for teachers. With so many apps, so little time, and so many contributors, the decision about which apps to share could get complicated so I tried not to over-think it. Here are some apps I've chosen to share.

Watch this list grow as I add the ideas of others to my playlist!

Why 'I Don't Have Time For Technology' Is No Longer Excusable | 21st Century Technology Integration | Scoop.it

Baiba Svenca's curator insight, February 26, 2013 2:25 PM

Piktochart has recently been upgraded, and now it makes infographics and presentations more interactive. You can now insert hyperlinks in your content and make your charts and tabs interactive. Also it is easier to save and share your infographics.

Unfortunately, free account is very limited, it gives you only 4 basic themes to choose from. Paid accounts for students start at $3.33 per month.

Adam Heckler writes:

" The worst part about it is that the technology world moves so fast and changes so rapidly that the jargon and slang is extremely hard to keep up with, even for people who try to pay close attention.

So today I thought I’d bring you a mini-encyclopedia or mini-dictionary of sorts, where I’ll lay out some of the more confusing technology terms that educators will encounter on a regular basis. I’ll do my best to explain them as well, so you can at least sound knowledgeable if you are, say, stuck in a conversation with someone who knows a lot about technology. Here we go!..."

An online voice recorder with sharing capabilities? Check! Augmented reality? You bet! A visual ranking tool to promote higher order thinking skills? Got that too! In fact, those are just three of nearly twenty ”cool tools” I discovered (or rediscovered for a new and improved purpose) while attending the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference (PETE&C) earlier this month in Hershey, PA.

That’s right! Check out these must-have resources and add them to your edtech toolbox sooner than later! Of course, the Geeky Girl couldn’t resist presenting this info in a visual way with one of her most favorite edtech tools of all-time—Thinglink!
