Why Assessments Don't Really Measure Understanding
Rob Hatfield, M.Ed.'s insight:
This is an excellent thought provoking article. I have always used assessment as a teacher feedback tool. For the student, it included a rubric with the criteria required by the educational institution's  "curriculum" for accreditation. I prefer competency benchmarks, capstone projects and project/ problem based learning because of the no "barriers" in learning process.

Blended and Hybrid Environments are Driving the New Global Movement in Education

Blended and Hybrid Environments are Driving the New Global Movement in Education | 21st Century Teaching and Learning | Scoop.it
Today’s global employers are searching for employees that have specific skills. Those skills may not be the same needed in 10 years though. In 2009, the US Department of Labor estimated 65% of today’s school children would eventually be employed in jobs that have yet to be created. The number is far higher today. The influx of technology is what has changed the shape of education forever. For this reason, schools must create opportunities for students to engage in higher level thinking skills and experience 21st century skills while using technology.

Some in more depth than others, our VR classes only exist in the STEM labs at the moment, but we are working to set up experiences across the school, and instead of designing camps with a learning focus, such as a robotics camp, our camps have had the learning experiences identified and expanded upon.
