A good idea for ESOL students.

Shannon Everett's curator insight, November 5, 2013 12:04 PM

Loogla is in Beta testing, but it's an interesting concept.  They believe that in order to learn a language, students need to be immersed in a language all the time.  Their program incorporates activities into regular webpages the user would normally be visiting to help them pick up the language faster.  I like this because it ensures that students are constantly learning bit by bit to make the new language stick, and to improve.  This would help me with my Spanish journey because I like that it is incorporated into the user's every day life.

To Help Children Learn Deeply, Ask Them To Explain « Annie Murphy Paul | 21st century Special Education | Scoop.it

"Children are quick to ask “why?” and “how?” when it comes to new things, but research suggests elementary and preschool students learn more when teachers (and, presumably, parents) turn the questions back on them, writes Sarah Sparks in Education Week.

Sparks reports on a symposium at the annual Association for Psychological Science research meeting held late last month, where panelists discussed how and when asking students for explanations can best enhance their learning:"

While I do believe these apps could use a bit more work and cost a little less I am happy to see technology in special education classrooms. In many cases children with special needs cam work better with computers than they do with people.

Reaching Different Learning Styles With The iPad

Reaching Different Learning Styles With The iPad | 21st century Special Education | Scoop.it

"How do you learn best?  For me, it depends on what I am learning.  Sometimes I need to take notes, other times I need to think out loud.  Some things are easier to learn with another person while with other things, I need to be alone.  My guess is most of us have different styles for learning depending on what it is we are working on."
