A Platform for Good

A Platform for Good | 21st Century skills of critical and creative thinking | Scoop.it

Facebook, Microsoft, Google, and other major tech companies have joined together.

They’ve partnered with non-profit organization Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) to build A Platform For Good.

It’s a safe digital place for teens, parents, and teachers to learn about and share information about online safety.

A Platform For Good is a host of resources that have been combined into one solid platform. From videos to blogs to tips for parents and youngsters, there’s more than enough information about online safety to keep them busy.

The Teach Teachers Tech video series, a series of videos that do what the name suggests, is something well worth a closer look.

There are videos on turning learning environments into a digital textbook, digital field trips, and more.

Puzzles - The Puzzle School

Puzzles - The Puzzle School | 21st Century skills of critical and creative thinking | Scoop.it

Puzzle School's goal is to foster a love of learning while educating learners.

Creating environments and products that teach through puzzle-like situations can make learning an enjoyable experience where learners often experience "Flow" as they take on harder and harder challenges.

To solve puzzles individuals, or groups, create theories or hypotheses about what will work and then test those hypotheses, learning from both successes and failures to form better hypotheses.

In order to develop hypotheses efficiently they need to look for patterns that will inform their hypotheses.

These pattern-matching skills are at the heart of our ability to communicate, be creative, problem-solve, empathize, and many other abilities that are enormously beneficial throughout life.

I particularly liked Refraction which many Functional Skills practitioners may want to take a closer look.
