21st Century Skills: Promoting Creativity and Innovation in the Classroom

21st Century Skills: Promoting Creativity and Innovation in the Classroom | 21st Century skills of critical and creative thinking | Scoop.it
InnovatingCreatingThinking's curator insight, March 6, 11:33 AM

Students in successful classrooms not only understand what they are learning, but why they are learning it and how it connects to the world beyond the classroom. Whether it is designing all the components to make a house in a high school maths/technology class or reading a home reader in primary school, students are able to connect with the what, how and why  of learning.

Samantha Mulford-Phillips's curator insight, March 19, 8:26 AM

The connection between concentration and creativity

The connection between concentration and creativity | 21st Century skills of critical and creative thinking | Scoop.it

Our brain’s prefrontal cortex is thought to filter out irrelevant thoughts.  This helps us concentrate better in a chaotic world.   But maybe this isn’t always helpful.  Like when we want to think creatively.

In fact, switching this filter off may actually increase “outside of the box” thinking.

I like this poster. Learning psychology is about explaining or outlining a theory, followed by evidence in the form of research, ending with critical evaluative commentary. This will be helpful for students.

A useful infographic that not only summarises the attributes of a critical thinker but more significantly, provides a 25 point list of actions teachers can invite students to do in learning activities, to stimulate and develop critical thinking abilities. A great poster for your office wall!
