Court Halts Laptop Tender

The High Court has temporarily stopped the government from tendering afresh for the procurement of laptops for primary schools. This is after Olive Telecommunications Company moved to court to challenge the decision by Public Procurement Administrative Review Board to cancel the tender which had earlier been awarded to the Indian firm. The tendering process remains suspended until the case, which comes up for hearing on 10th April, is heard and determined.

Uncertainty Surrounds Laptops Project As Court Halts Re-Tendering Process.

Class one pupils will now have to wait for much longer before they can be supplied with free laptops, after the high court stopped the fresh procurement of the laptops for schools tender pending the hearing of a case filed by Olive telecommunications limited challenging the decision by the public procurement administrative review board to cancel the 24.6 billion shilling tender award. Justice Weldon Korir said the stay order will remain in place until the high court hears and determines a petition filed by the Indian firm challenging the cancellation of the tender.

The primary school laptop project suffered yet another setback on Wednesday.

The High Court stopped the Education ministry from proceeding to award the tender afresh.

Justice Weldon Korir issued the orders following an urgent application to stop the process by Indian firm Olive Telecommunications PVT Ltd, whose Sh24 billion tender to supply the laptops was cancelled last week by the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.

Forbes reports that the nation’s “$1 trillion student loan problem keeps getting worse,” and according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, college graduates are greeted with “crummy” jobs and fewer full-time options. Students weighing their options might begin to wonder if college is even worth it anymore. Well, a new report says it is. In fact, recent research suggests the only thing less affordable than college is not going at all.

It's great seeing Eminem and 50 stay close even though 50 Cent left shady records to become independent. When 50 says "our friendship will never be unbreakable" is awesome. It tells the public that even though he went independent, doesn't mean he won't still calibrate with Eminem on new music.
