Mark Treadwell's curator insight, October 21, 2013 1:36 PM

A great presentation that links together the key themes of the paradigm shift we are experiencing.right now; NOT in 10 or 20 years time. NOW!

Chris Metcalfe's curator insight, November 7, 2013 5:36 AM

How brave are we? How can we engender a spirit of innovation within our current educational structure?? We can't. We need to stimulate innovation within our schools to liberate the creative possibilities within our students. But we need to think differently about what we are striving for...its not the grades anymore....it is about the core competencies.

Sonia Nelson's insight:

Informative article on the benefits of Principals and teachers using Twitter. Some good quotes include:

''Twitter provides insight into what others are thinking, and your own thinking is provoked - four or five colleagues may read the same article via Twitter and come back with different thoughts."

''As a leader, it is important to understand different perspectives. Learning is not just confined to education, it enables you to link to other arenas."

''What I'm following is general commentary not about day-to-day life, but about bigger-picture scenarios. The real skill is in determining what you will read right away, later, or not at all.''

Sonia Nelson's insight:

Interesting suggestions about how to maximise student learning. The notion is to talk through concepts using personal examples (or student relevant examples) with 'you' and 'I' statements and limit Powerpoint slides to mainly images.

I think I might try this in my Science teaching.
