New Guide Helps Leaders and Practitioners Improve Instruction for English Language Learners | AIR

New Guide Helps Leaders and Practitioners Improve Instruction for English Language Learners | AIR | 21st Century English Language Learners, Teachers and Administrators | Scoop.it
The need to adequately serve English language learners (ELLs) has never been more pressing, as their numbers increase and their achievement continues to be poor in comparison to their English-proficient peers.
Rob Hatfield, M.Ed.'s insight:

This Pocket Guide is the first of three developed to help state and local policymakers and practitioners implement ESEA flexibility plans approved by the U.S. Department of Education. The guide's authors reviewed the approved plans to identify policies relevant to ELLs. This can be easily adapted to international academic and cultual standards for English as an International Language.

6 Types of Blended Learning [Infographic] - Edudemic | 21st Century English Language Learners, Teachers and Administrators | Scoop.it
Rob Hatfield, M.Ed.'s insight:

Blended Learning is not so much an innovation as it is a natural by-product of the digital domain creeping into physical boundaries. As digital and social media become more and more prevalent in the life of learners, it was only a matter of time before learning became “blended” by necessity.

That said, there’s a bit more to Blended and “Hybrid” Learning than throwing in a little digital learning.
