7 of the Best Audio and Video Tools for Teachers

7 of the Best Audio and Video Tools for Teachers | 21st Century Concepts-Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it
These seven great audio and video tools for teachers and students can make your classroom and curriculum a whole lot more vivid and engaging.

Via Beth Dichter
Beth Dichter's curator insight, June 7, 10:35 PM

This post provides some great audio and video tools that you might consider using with students. We know that students are engaged when multimedia comes into the classroom...and what better way to engage them than to have them become creators through the use of multimedia.

Learn about tools such as:

* Matterhorn, a free tool that "enables teachers to create recordings of lectures and classes." Are you thinking of flipping your class? If so you should check out this tool.

* Jing - another free tool that allows you to capture what is happening on the screen of your computer and then share it with others. How about having students demonstrate ways to solve math problems, and post them online?

* Splicd - Is that YouTube video too long? Determine which section you want and grab that specific section. Save it to your hard drive and you ready to go...without taking time to fast foward to the necessary section.

* UJam - Another free tool this one allows you to create and remix music and film.

Three more tools are listed in the post so click through to check them out!

MyScript Calculator | 21st Century Concepts-Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it
Most people learned math as children by writing out problems on paper. This calculator app lets you do just that, but also lets you perform complex computations, all by writing numbers and symbols on your screen.

I have iPads in the Classroom! Now What?

I have iPads in the Classroom! Now What? | 21st Century Concepts-Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it

"It sounds so cool to say “We have/use iPad in our school/classroom”.  Parents, community members and stakeholders might equal hearing such a statement with the assurance that the teacher/school is on the cutting edge of technology and their students are being prepared for a new world.  iPads (just as Smartboards used to) are a visual, easily counted and recognizable icon for such assurance.  Many schools around the globe are jumping on that proverbial “iPad bandwagon”

iPads are being handed out to faculty.a small number of devices or a class iPad cart is made available for classrooms to checkout.students might be asked to bring, lease or use school owned devices to create a 1:1 environment

You might be one of the teachers who is excited about the possibilities or apprehensive and fearful of the seemingly overwhelming task in front of you how to manage your classroom, students and the devices AND at the same time use them to improve student learning.

You might be thinking…

I HAVE iPADS IN THE CLASSROOM! NOW WHAT?"

Via John Evans, Cristin Kennedy
James Matthews's curator insight, June 16, 3:42 AM

I totally agree that owning the devices is not even half he battle? Have you invested as much time and thought into infrastructure so that they can be used to their full potential? Have you invested in staff traing (and understanding)? How will they raise standards?

Integrating iPads in My Classroom

Integrating iPads in My Classroom | 21st Century Concepts-Technology in the Classroom | Scoop.it

"The easiest way to integrate iPads in the classroom is to think about changing 1 element of your lesson."

Via John Evans, MSTA
Kimberly A. Hurd's curator insight, June 11, 7:26 AM

That is all it takes. Being brave enough to change just one thing. Instead of this...do that. Tech is a tool. Pick the right tool for job!

Marilyn Korhonen's curator insight, June 11, 9:31 AM

This is great advice for all change - It is often easier to change one thing and then another and another rather than to face a complete transformation.
