32 Characteristics Of High-Performing Classrooms

Instructional design is the strategic creation of learning experiences through intentional planning, sequencing, and data-based revision of learning.

This process includes both the ways content is accessed, and the learning needs and objectives (and how they are determined) themselves.

This puts instructional strategies, literacy strategies, curriculum mapping, standards unpacking, assessment design, digital literacy, and a dozen other facets of education beneath its umbrella.

I agree that tools are important and I guess by technology we mean digital which are also important. It is not the tool. It is the way it is chosen. Is it the right tool for this context, this person, this group, this moment, etc? There has to be certain mindfulness involved that is not always evident.

The Pencil Metaphor: How Teachers Respond To Education Technology

The takeaway for this kind of durability? More than likely, the pencil metaphor persists because of the simultaneous overlap and juxtaposition of pencils, education, and technology. (It’s a neat party trick.) There was also a bit of thinking that went into this–Ferrules? And everyone loves familiar and iconic symbolism.
