"The Chronicle of Higher Education released the results Monday of its electronic survey of MOOC instructors, to which 103 professors responded out of a total of 184.
"Despite a majority of respondents feeling that MOOCs could drive down the price of college and almost half feeling that their MOOC was as rigorous as their face-to-face courses, only 28% believe the courses deserve formal credit from their institution and 34% said they believed their institution would eventually grant formal credit to students who did well in their MOOC; however, 79% respondents did believe that MOOCs are worth the hype.
"A majority of the survey's participants were long-time professors with no online teaching experience prior to their adoption of MOOCs, and more than two-thirds were tenured faculty"
