Hemp foods may just be the newest superfood for this year. Hemp seeds are rich in the proper ratio of omega 3-6-9 and are loaded with protein. Hemp seeds are rich in most minerals and vitamins and can easily correct most common nutritional deficiencies.

Health Tips:  Try these easy raw Hemp Seed Balls. Mix by hand or in a food processor 1 cup hemp seeds (I never measure, as I use the intuitive eye test, so here are approximate measurements).raw organic dates about 4-6 (use more if you prefer more sweetness). The mixture will clump in F.P. and then you can roll into balls and roll balls in organic shredded unsweetened coconut or your favorites. Nutritious energy booster snacks for anytime of day.

Here's a post for people who say they have no time to cook or prepare healthy food. It's really not about having more times  as it is about shifting priorities as the benefits outweigh any discussion on time challenges.

Health Tips:  Plan and prepare ideas for meals with family. Shop with a list of necessary foods for the week. Choose one day/evening/week  to prepare simple healthy meals your family likes. Involve the whole family and make it a fun experience. Cut up veggies/fruits and package in freezer to add to meals or buy on sale frozen produce. Freeze portions for later meals. Prepare healthy easy snacks to have on hand for lunch boxes and hunger raids. Have nuts/seeds on hand in glass jars. Save money by buying in bulk aisle. Consider making your own nut butters or tomato sauce. Start with a few foods and add your favorites as you become more proficient.

Great Massage Ideas From People Who Know All About It

If you have experienced a massage in the past, you are familiar with how your muscles can relax and gain back control. If you have never gotten a massage, then you need to know a few things before getting one. This article must help you have a terrific future massage. Make the most of your massage by drinking lots of water. Why? Because a good massage gets your circulation going, but water is needed to flush toxins out of your body. Hydrating before your massage makes your blood less sluggish, making it easier for the masseuse to rub excess lactic acid out of your muscles. Staying hydrated after aids your body in processing and eliminating these toxins. If you have stretch marks, you probably want to be rid of them. Massaging them with coco butter can help you with this! It works by promoting the growth of healthy new tissue. Start your massage at the top of the back. This is important as there are a lot of muscles and knots tied up in this area. This technique will help you to soothe the person you are massaging and serves as a terrific bridge to the other areas of the body. Be prompt to your massage so that you do not miss it. It is very easy to lose track of the time in the hustle and bustle of your day. If this must occur, you will be in a rush and it will be difficult to truly relax. Your objective is to hit the massage table relaxed. An easy way to give a relaxing massage is by using a technique called "raking". In it, you just run your fingertips (spread hands) down the person's back, gently moving back and forth. Really, you're doing a raking motion up and down. For added effect, try alternating your hands - one rakes up while the other rakes down. Heated oils, such as olive or sweet almond, are perfect for a massage. Oils will be absorbed by the skin much better than lotions and gels will be. A massage oil also helps your hands glide gently over the body of the person receiving the massage. Ask for lower lights when you get a message. A dark room will enhance the relaxing environment you want to experience during a massage. You don't need a completely dark room, but soft candle light or lights that are very dimmed will do the trick. Did you know you have terrific self-massage tools around the house? Why not lie on a tennis ball for a sore spot on your back? A rolling pin is terrific for the bottom of your feet. Walk around your house and you may be surprised by all the terrific tools you find! Massage is an important part of spending time at a luxury health club. Although most people can not afford this type of indulgence on a regular basis, checking out a health club a few times during the year can provide the type of rejuvenation everyone needs from time to time. Enjoy the massage and every other part of your day to the maximum. Have a shower readily available for those you use oil on. This is a soothing step that will remove the excess oil. Removing the oil will prevent clogged pores and blemishes. When you are stymied for what to give as a Christmas or birthday present, consider buying a coupon for a healthy massage! Everybody loves the soothing and relaxing benefits of a deep tissue massage and who couldn't use the extra pampering? Especially for the person who has everything, the gift of massage is perfect! When getting a massage, your actions will help you enjoy the massage more and receive maximum benefits from it. Practice deep breathing exercises while you are getting your massage. Breathe out when pressure is applied and breathe in when pressure is released. This will have an immeasurable impact on the relaxation of your massage. See if your masseuse offers a referral program. If they do, you could get a significant discount off of your services by sending your pals to your therapist. If you don't have much money and need massages for health, this is very valuable. Do not right away engage in strenuous activity following a massage. Taking a short, calming walk or sitting and reading for a few minutes would be optimal. It is typically reported that people feel dizzy following a massage, and this means that the body is not ready to jump into heavy lifting or heart racing activities. It is fine to enjoy these activities a little later in the day, about an hour or so after your massage. Massaging is a terrific way to relieve pain and stress but keep in mind that a massage might not be your best option if your joints or articulations are bothering you. You must go to a chiropractic practitioner for some adjustments instead of massaging or trying to adjust your joints yourself. Use scented massage lotion when you are giving a massage. The scent acts as aromatherapy and can enhance the feeling of relaxation. The lotion softens the friction between your hands and the person's body, so the massage is easier on the skin. Find out what the scent preference is before you apply it. The patient isn't made of glass, so don't be afraid to close your fists or use your elbows to thump along the body's summary. This small exertion of force at the beginning of a massage helps waken the nerves and loosen the tired muscles. Apply a gentle amount of force and follow along the shoulders, ribcage, and lower neck for maximum efficiency. Some types of massage may demand you to be fully nude. If being completely nude is uncomfortable to you, you can always wear panties or briefs to cover up a little. In health clubs in North America, you must cover up everyone who gets a massage. As you just learned, a lot of factors make up a good massage. Some tips are terrific to have, whether you are the masseur or if you're receiving a massage. The information presented here will help you enjoy your next massage to the utmost. If you have never gotten a massage, then you need to know a few things before getting one. Because a good massage gets your circulation going, but water is needed to flush toxins out of your body. A massage oil also helps your hands glide gently over the body of the person receiving the massage. When getting a massage, your actions will help you enjoy the massage more and receive maximum benefits from it. Use scented massage lotion when you are giving a massage.

What the Flax? Why You Need This Superseed, and What to Do With It

What the Flax? Why You Need This Superseed, and What to Do With It | Fitness, Health, Running and Weight loss | Scoop.it
As America grapples with its obesity epidemic and other diet-driven health problems, interest in healthy plant-based eating continues to rise. Whether you're transitioning to a vegan diet and looking for those heart-healthy omega-3's, or just hoping to optimize nutritional bang-for-the-buck at mealtime, embrace the mighty flax seed -- here's how!

Are you aware that flax, chia, and hemp seed are all rich in omega 3 fatty acids, essential fiber and are loaded with key nutrients? If you're switching to consuming more plant based foods, these three are a sure bet.

Health Tips:  Be sure to consume one or two tablespoons of flax meal or ground flaxseed daily.. Whole flaxseeds can't be digested. You can also use flaxseed oil. Flaxseeds and chia seeds can be used in place of eggs in baking. Just use 2-3 TBSP of water with 2-3 TBSP of flax/chia seeds. Flaxseeds are a great addition to oatmeal or overnight oats, to smoothies (add after you pour contents into your glass), to salads, and to baked or raw desserts. Keep all ground/meal flax in a dark glass jar in your refrigerator or freezer. It spoils quickly when exposed to the light.

Here's an information packed article on flax. Be wary of canola oil and soy foods mentioned in the post. There is no canola plant so it's not plant based. It is processed from hexane, a petrochemical. And most soy today is GMO unless the label says non-gmo. "What the flax? Why You Need This Superseed and What to do with it. from Greenliving by Eat Drink better.

Are you eating foods rich in fiber? Fiber is fabulous for your health. Did you know that the most important difference between good carbs (complex) and bad carbs (simple) is how quickly the carbohydrate is broken down into glucose in your body? In a nutshell, the speed with which a carb breaks down depends on the amount of fiber it contains. Remember there's 2 types of fiber and they both help you manage your blood sugar, regardless of whether you have diabetes.

Health Tips:  Eat more fiber with each meal by loading up on veggies, fruits, whole grains like oats, barley, ancient grains,  nuts, seeds, and  legumes (peas, beans and lentils).  Drink lots of filtered water which will help push the fiber through. Fiber helps people with digestive issues such as IBS, constipation. Fiber helps your heart, helps with your hormones, controls your appetite, and fights cancer. Isn't it time to eat more fiber rich foods?

11 Ways to Fight Bad Breath Naturally ("regular maintenance is the key")

11 Ways to Fight Bad Breath Naturally ("regular maintenance is the key") | Fitness, Health, Running and Weight loss | Scoop.it
Some 25 to 30 percent of the world’s population suffer with halitosis, or bad breath.

Here are 10 ways to fight bad breath:

- If you wear dentures, remove them at night and clean to get rid of bacterial buildup from food and drink.

- Drink plenty of water and swish cool water around in your mouth. This is especially helpful to freshen “morning breath.”

- Brush after every meal and floss, preferably twice a day.

- Replace your toothbrush every two to three months.

- Arrange regular dental checkups and cleanings.

- Scrape your tongue each morning with a tongue scraper or spoon to decrease the bacteria, fungi, and dead cells that can cause odor. Hold the tip of the tongue with gauze to pull it forward in order to clean the back of the tongue.

- Chew a handful of cloves, fennel seeds, or aniseeds. Their antiseptic qualities help fight halitosis-causing bacteria.

- Chew a piece of lemon or orange rind for a mouth- freshening burst of flavor. (Wash the rind thoroughly first.) The citric acid will stimulate the salivary glands—and fight bad breath.

- Chew a fresh sprig of parsley, basil, mint, or cilantro. The chlorophyll in these green plants neutralizes odors.

- Try a 30-second mouthwash rinse that is alcohol-free (unike many off-the-shelf products). Mix a cup of water with a teaspoon of baking soda (which changes the pH level and fights odor in the mouth) and a few drops of antimicrobial peppermint essential oil. Don’t swallow it! (Yields several rinses.)

Your mouth need regular maintenance. Here are 11 suggestions.

"The origins of bad breath are not mysterious: dental cavities, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, coated tongue (a white or yellow coating on the tongue, usually due to inflammation) are among the most common."

Are you a family member concerned whether a loved one eating plant based foods is getting enough protein? This question often seems to be asked by meat eaters. The real question to ask for all humans who eat food is really what do I look for to tell if I'm getting enough protein.

Health tips:  Whether you're consuming plant based foods or not, you need amino acids which are what protein is made of and plants are rich in amino acids.  However for those people eating just veggies and fruits, more protein is needed from ancient grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes (beans, peas, lentils). People eating mainly processed fake foods won't get very much if any quality protein.
