Eating more plant based foods rich in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients from Mother Earth  have been shown to improve your overall health and well-being. 

 

Health Tips:  Eat more veggies and fruits every day as these foods will nourish you and your body for a lifetime. Eat lots of healthy fats to protect your heart like avocados, nuts, olive oil, coconut oil, and seed oils. Eat legumes as in beans, peas,and  lentils. Consume real whole food and healthy ancient grains like quinoa, millet, amaranth, buckwheat, teff, and farro.  Eat fermented foods like homemade sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, tempeh, and kefirs. Reduce or totally avoid all processed foods and GMOs as these cause you to age faster and cause chronic diseases due to inflammation. Make wise choices.

Did you know that plant based real whole food is the best and richest source for all your vitamin/mineral needs?  Yes it is critical for you to take a supplement for vitamin D and B12.

 

Many people, maybe you,  are deficient in what is known as "shortfall nutrients": fiber, the minerals calcium, potassium, magnesium, and the vitamins A, C, D, E, K.  These are the nutrients found in  unprocessed plant food. Consume the foods rich in these nutrients.

 

Health Tips:  Beans, peas, lentils known as legumes fill you up with nourishing goodness and give you that second meal effect. Adding cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cabbage, kale and other crucifers plus sprouts, and a big salad of greens/veggies with a piece of fruit for dessert; sets you up for nutrition heaven. Your body gets satisfied and you are rocking the boat.

Did you know that blueberries and all berries offer protection against cancer, boost your immune system, and guard your liver and brain?  Berries are the healthiest fruits.

 

The dark pigmented colors are the antioxidants so it's important not to peel apples. Antioxidants combat free radicals which lead to inflammation. Berries are second only to herbs and spices for their antioxidant abilities.

 

Blueberries are known to increase memory. Tart cherries help with arthritis/gout and better sleep. Goji berries have high concentrations of melatonin and zeaxanthin (helps with vision loss). Black currants have been shown in a study to improve the symptoms of computer eyestrain. This information comes from Dr Michael Greger, "How Not to Die".

 

Health Tips:  Fresh organic berries or flash frozen berries are your best bet. You can eat the berries as is or make plant based ice cream for a super summery treat. When you make jam most of the anthocyanin pigments are lost.

Did you know that lemon juice which contains the antioxidant vitamin C helps to keep your fruit salads from turing brown?

However, there are many myths about lemons and the supposed health benefits of drinking water with lemon which this article discusses.

 

Here's something you may not know.  Lemons have more sugar than oranges according to Dr Brian Clement, Hippocrates Health Institute. One half lemon in a quart of filtered water is fine for healthy people.

 

Health Tips:  If you're just starting to drink more water and don't care for the taste, you can add a small slice of lemon or lime to your large glass of filtered water or add in a few drops of liquid Stevia. 

 

Eating organic nutrient dense plant based real whole foods paired with seeds/nuts, sprouts, cruciferous veggies, green salads, and a small piece of fruit will give your body what it needs to thrive and you will look, feel, and be better at any age.
