Luis Suarez apology: Liverpool had no prior knowledge of statement as striker seeks to clear way for £80m Barcelona transfer

Luis Suarez apology: Liverpool had no prior knowledge of statement as striker seeks to clear way for £80m Barcelona transfer | 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil | Scoop.it
Luis Suarez has finally issued an apology for biting Giorgio Chiellini six days after the event, in what is regarded a move to clear the way for his transfer to Barcelona.

Maria Victoria's insight:

It took six days after the controversial bite, for Luis Suarez to publicly apologize via Twitter to Giorgio Chielini. Sources say that neither Liverpool or the AUF had anything to do with the releasing of the statement. They weren't even aware about it beforehand. Was it because he truly felt guilty about his actions, or is it all part of a plan that involves him leaving to FC Barcelona next season? The answer? We may never know. Apology accepted.

How The 2014 FIFA World Cup Became The Worst Publicity Stunt In History

How The 2014 FIFA World Cup Became The Worst Publicity Stunt In History | 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil | Scoop.it
The World Cup was supposed to illustrate Brazil's entrance into the global stage. That hasn't quite gone as planned.

Via Juan Bona
Maria Victoria's insight:

While being chosen the host of the 2014 FIFA World Cup was supposed to be a positive thing for Brazil and its worlwide image, facts are proving quite the opposite thing since the past few months. This article basically shows what went wrong along the way, since 2007, when this country was awarded the title of being the host city for this major event.

Juan Bona's curator insight, May 28, 2014 6:13 PM

The economic and financial situation in Brazil deteriorated dramatically since they began preparations for the World Cup. Until 2007 (when it was announced as the host), the government had achieved growth never seen before. Lula da silva wanted to use the tournament to show their evolution to the other countries but ended up costing the government an amount close to 11.7 billion dollars.

The Cameroon football federation has launched an investigation into allegations that some of their players were involved in match-fixing at the World Cup.

Maria Victoria's insight:

FIFA President, Joseph Blatter, authourized Cameroon officials to investigate if there were possible fixings in the World Cup's preliminary games, after allegations were made by a match-fixer to the German press. Seven Cameroon players are being crossed-examined since there's a high suspicion they were part of this scam . Looking back at this team's performance during the World Cup, it's a bit notorious how they lost all three matches and a player got sent off against Croatia. Heads up. We might be onto someting big.
