Are You Voting to Kill Your Neighbor? A Taxpayor Dies Every 12 Minutes: The Price of Not Having Medicare for All | 21st Century EXTREMISM, ELITISM and POLITICAL POWER | Scoop.it

Cartoon from HealthCare-Now.org

In 2002, that more than 18,000 Americans between the ages of 19 and 64 were dying each year as a result of being uninsured. The number in 2009 was two and a half times that figure, or around 45,000.

2012: Obamacare is still being debated and soon The Supreme Court will make their decision as to how many more taxpaying Americans will be allowed to die each year because they lack health care.

Meanwhile about half of the country plans to vote against healthcare for all while more and more middle class Americans are pushed into lower paying jobs that do not offer healthcare coverage.

The Company He Keeps: Mitt Romney delivers commencement speech at Liberty University

The Company He Keeps: Mitt Romney delivers commencement speech at Liberty University | 21st Century EXTREMISM, ELITISM and POLITICAL POWER | Scoop.it

TDF Comments:

Mitt Romney delivered the commencement speech at Liberty Univeristy in Lynchburg, VA. While the university doesn't endorse candidates (or so it says) -- we must pause for a moment and consider that Romney's appearance is like an endorsement for the university and its principles.

At this time we think voters should be reminded that Liberty University was founded by Jerry Falwell. As uncomfortable as they might be to read, here are just a few quotes from Falwell during his lifetime.

10. "The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country."

9. "The ACLU is to Christians what the American Nazi party is to Jews."

8. "I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!"

7. "AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals. To oppose it would be like an Israelite jumping in the Red Sea to save one of Pharaoh's charioteers ... AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals."

6. "If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being"

5. "Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them."

4. "Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan in America."

3. "He is purple — the gay-pride color, and his antenna is shaped like a triangle — the gay pride symbol." –from a "Parents Alert" issued in Jerry Falwell's National Liberty Journal, warning that "Tinky Winky," a character on the popular PBS children's show, "Teletubbies," may be gay

2. “It appears that America's anti-Biblical feminist movement is at last dying, thank God, and is possibly being replaced by a Christ-centered men's movement which may become the foundation for a desperately needed national spiritual awakening”

1. "The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'" --on the 9/11 attacks

Enough said.

TPP: What You Don't Know Will Hurt You (Video)

TPP: What You Don't Know Will Hurt You (Video) | 21st Century EXTREMISM, ELITISM and POLITICAL POWER | Scoop.it

LORI WALLACH, Huffington Post

DALLAS -- Tuesday, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) twelfth round of negotiations will begin behind closed doors at the Intercontinental Hotel here. Branded as a "trade deal" by its corporate proponents, the TPP in reality would establish new corporate rights to ease job offshoring, attack environmental and health laws in foreign tribunals, and extend medicine patents. Its expansive non-trade provisions would impose constraints on government regulation of financial firms, food safety and more.

As The Huffington Post's Zach Carter reported, the TPP would even ban "Buy America" procurement policy. The TPP also includes aspects of SOPA, the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act. The pact would even elevate corporations to equal status with signatory governments allowing them to privately enforce their new rights be suing government in foreign tribunals to demand taxpayer compensation for policies that undermine the companies' expected future profits.

Intensive negotiations have been underway for two years under conditions of extreme secrecy. More than 600 hundred corporate "advisers" have access to the draft texts while the press, public and Congress are shut out. This comic video, set to a parody tune based off the Jackson Five's "ABC," aims to pierce the dangerous lack of public awareness about this audacious corporate power grab. With funny animation and a sarcastic tone, it highlights that the TPP is "all about secrecy" and has "nothing to do with trade you see". You can learn more about the TPP at www.TPP2012.com.

SUPREME COURT DECISION TAKING AWAY CONSUMERS RIGHT TO CLASS ACTION SUITS: An Anniversary You Are Forced to Remember | 21st Century EXTREMISM, ELITISM and POLITICAL POWER | Scoop.it

NEGAH MOUZOON, Huffington Post

One year after a U.S. Supreme Court decision gave corporations free rein to block class action lawsuits, judges have used the decision to prevent at least 76 potential class-action suits from going forward, a new report by Public Citizen and the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) has found.

The report, "Justice Denied," tracks the anti-consumer effects of AT&T Mobility v. Concepcion, in which the Supreme Court ruled that corporations could block consumers' rights to sue collectively -- even in the 19 states that have laws protecting such rights.

What began as a dispute over $30 between Vincent and Liza Concepcion and AT&T has turned into a legal monster worth millions of dollars to corporate bottom lines. The corporate lawyers and the court put profits before people, and a year later, we are seeing the ripple effects, as people seeking fairness are losing their legal rights.

Remember that story in the New Testament in which Jesus Christ fed thousands by multiplying a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish?

Never happened. Christ lifted the hungry masses by urging them to fend for themselves. He then found a quiet corner, out of sight of the starving horde, to enjoy his fish sandwich. Far be it from the Savior to demoralize the crowd by creating abundance and then sharing it. That would be socialism.

LIKE A SCENE FROM The Omen: Is Mormon Prophecy Self Fulfilling by Religious Extremism? | 21st Century EXTREMISM, ELITISM and POLITICAL POWER | Scoop.it
Mitt Romney wants voters to see him as the man to save the economy and right the country, the redeeming American hero riding in on the proverbial white horse. Just not that White Horse.

As Mormon legend goes:

After warning signs of trouble in the Middle East and anti-Mormon sentiment pervading the government, “You will see the Constitution of the United States almost destroyed. It will hang like a thread as fine as a silk fiber,” the prophecy has Smith saying.

But “it will be preserved and saved by the efforts of the White Horse,” who will “stand by the Constitution of the United States as it was given by the inspiration of God.” There will be a Black Horse — American blacks, as the text is commonly interpreted — that sides with England and France, but eventually they’ll all submit to the White Horse as the religion fulfills its world-conquering destiny in an Armageddon-style war with the Russians—while keeping an eye on the looming threat of China.

YOU'RE SO BAINED. IS SAVERIN GUILTY OF SOCIAL CRIMES AGAINST THE LITTLE PEOPLE? | 21st Century EXTREMISM, ELITISM and POLITICAL POWER | Scoop.it

Huffington Post (comments page)

Joyce McMenamin:  “In law, treason is the crime that covers some of the more extreme acts against one's sovereign or nation. In a nation where the very people who have helped make this young man very wealthy suffer economically... where someone dies every 12 seconds from lack of healthcare... he and others like him who flee paying taxes are committing a "social crime" and possibly a form of economic treason against their own nation in crisis. Think about it. ”

UPDATE: 5:48 p.m. -- In a statement issued later on Thursday, Eduardo Saverin denied he was ungrateful to the United States.

He wrote, "My decision to expatriate was based solely on my interest in working and living in Singapore, where I have been since 2009. I am obligated to and will pay hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes to the United States government. I have paid and will continue to pay any taxes due on everything I earned while a U.S. citizen. It is unfortunate that my personal choice has led to a public debate, based not on the facts, but entirely on speculation and misinformation."

Bloomberg calculates that renouncing his citizenship in September 2011, as Saverin did, should save him about $67 million in income taxes versus renouncing his citizenship today, because his attorneys could argue that his Facebook stock was worth less then that it is now.

Debt-ceiling fiasco: House Republicans just reneged on the debt-ceiling deal, making a default in 2013 almost inevitable. | 21st Century EXTREMISM, ELITISM and POLITICAL POWER | Scoop.it

Something terrible happened in Congress last week—and nobody seemed to notice.

House Republicans voted to take money away from programs meant to help poor people and give it to the military instead.

The problem is that the vote constitutes a collective Republican welching on the agreement that was reached last spring to raise the statutory debt ceiling and avoid national default. Yesterday’s vote doesn’t undo the deal or cause any immediate problems, but by so speedily backing out of their agreement, the Republicans have done something much worse—made it impossible for anyone to negotiate with them in the future, because it’s clear they cannot be trusted to keep the promises they made.
