2010: The year the future arrived (250 headlines to prove it)

2010: The year the future arrived (250 headlines to prove it) | 2010 | Scoop.it
In case there is any doubt that the future is on our doorstep and ringing the bell, I've compiled a list of 250 headlines related to the future of computing, the environment, medicine, robotics, and other topics that have been hot in 2010.  Although by no means a complete record of the year's future-related headlines, this list demonstrates what an incredible year 2010 has been.  Even if you don't click through to any of the articles, just reading the headlines will give you a good idea of the technology tsunami that was 2010.

My pleasure ! I really enjoyed it, what you did was a very interesting exercise. I was curious to know if you get the same impression of a tech tsunami if you play the same headlines game with another year you know
Rick Schettino's comment, January 16, 2011 8:39 AM
I'm sure you can get a lot of stories to show progress in any year. But they won't include genetic code 2.0, artificial life, artificial blood, cyber war, the iPad, inhabitable exoplanets, an artificial intelligent mobile computing boom, and lots of other breakthroughs that we've been talking about for a long time. 2011 and beyond are going to be even crazier.
axelletess's comment, January 16, 2011 8:42 AM
Yes. I agree with you. Next year, you will have 500 headlines ;)

2000 Vs. 2010: How the world has changed

2000 Vs. 2010: How the world has changed | 2010 | Scoop.it
So what's changed? Technology has gotten unimaginably smaller and better — just look at the differences between an iMac in 2000 and an iPhone in 2010. (See here for a similar comparison.) The world's population has grown, and for the first time more people live in cities than in rural areas. China's electricity consumption has quadrupled. And the costs of technology are becoming more apparent than before. But really, the data speaks for itself.

"Speaking of Apple -- you saw this coming, right? -- it tops our list of the Top 10 companies on Twitter in 2010. It's probably no shock, either, that tech and gadget companies dominate the rest of the list, but, wait, Uniqlo? If you read my colleague Jennifer Whitehead's report back in September -- titled "Uniqlo's U.K. Twitter Campaign Looks to Be a Perfect Fit for Retailer" and subtitled "Every Time Someone Tweets About an Item, Company Drops the Price, Boosting Web Presence and Brand Recognition" -- well, you saw that coming, too."
