The flipped classroom

What is so exciting about this concept is that it brings together the skills that young people need: technological literacy, creativity and collaboration. It also gives their schoolwork purpose and promotes students working together – all things that are shown to promote achievement.

How To Embed Technology Into The Classroom

How To Embed Technology Into The Classroom | Create: 2.0 Tools... and ESL | Scoop.it

A way to see how to to embed technology so it makes a real difference.

Let's start focusing on what the teacher already does well. This could be demos that they create; it could be how they record student progress; it could be the actual teaching and learning material; it could be the department budget or curriculum planning.
Then, look at what they think they could improve on.

Eliminating the App Gap: Marc Prensky (PDF)

Should we be concerned about the fact that today there are a great many students who already have phones, or iTouches or iPads with the ability to download whatever apps they need or want (and the accounts and means to do so), and, of course, many more that do not? I think we should absolutely be concerned, because apps include some of the most useful learning tools that have ever been available.

Are Virtual Worlds (still) Relevant in Education?

Back in 2005, the growth of Second Life (SL), which was the first social virtual world without overt MMORPG game mechanics, seemed to herald the age of educational virtual world use. SL got the attention of educators because it wasn't a "game" and allowed users to build environments and programmed objects along with social interaction. Sudden increased awareness of the platform served as a "Technology Trigger" that had instructional technologists and educators clamoring to collaborate on ways to utilize this new tool.

Dr. Doris Molero's comment, February 6, 2012 7:21 AM
Virtual worlds need a different way to look at ducation.. you don't go there to be taughtt.. you learn there by yourself... exploring.. asking questions.. wondering and wandering.. Serendipity lives there. It's up to educators to let you be and motivate you to go ahead and click around. Propose interesting projects where you need to think, collaborate and finally create. There are great communities who will certainly help you. In technology ... everyone is following the latest trend.. they go jumping from one tool to another without grasping fully any of them. Don't forget ..it's not the tool it's how you integrate it to whatever you are adventuring into. I still think virtual worlds are wonderful! There are tech problems, we know.. but it's intersting how we can find solutions. It takes time and effort..but it's that what life is about, finding solutions to keep on shining?
