Collect, Organize And Share Your Interests With Collective.li

Collect, Organize And Share Your Interests With Collective.li | Create: 2.0 Tools... and ESL | Scoop.it

Collective.li is a new web-based curation platform which allows anyone to pull together images, text, web clippings and video into one curated set, that can be published and shared on social media. Content can be gathered via a browser clipping extension, as well as from your cloud-based storage via a dedicated importing tool or by simply uploading your favorite files from your computer.

Collections are as easy to create as a file folder, and any collection can be made part of another one, allowing for more complex and hierarchical topical structures.

Multiple "themes" / layouts are available for publishing any collection, which can be set to "public" or "private" depending on need.

What is curation? Does it really help or is it adding more noise to the soundwave of information already coming at us? Where do you draw the line between social sharing, personal expression and true curation?

How a Nobody can become a Somebody

How a Nobody can become a Somebody | Create: 2.0 Tools... and ESL | Scoop.it

This is a great post by Raymond Morin on how Social Influence and Curation are tightly interconnected. "The key to influence is based primarily on the quality and relevance of the content offered", he writes, "Only by adding value to the maelstrom of content on the Web can a blogger reveal themselves as an influence within their network".

And he finishes with a precious tip: "always ask whether our contents are worth sharing".

This is precisely one of the drivers we had for creating Scoop.it: creating Social Media for the rest of us. Not the celebrities or the movie stars (we like them too!) but the people who - in spite of not being famous - had expertise to share. Everyone has a favorite topic they care passionately about and that is worth sharing.

What is yours?

FlashIssue

This might be a useful tool for learners to assemble their own portfolio of online work, or for presenting the results of a collaborative project.

FlashIssue is a web app which allows you to easily assemble a professional-looking newsletter, by bringing together your best content as well as any article available online.

FlashIssue can read your site RSS feed or for that matter any RSS feed you provide it with and you can pick and select from the stream of items in the feed the ones you want to include in your newsletter.

You can search for any topic via an integrated Google Search or provide the URL of a specific web page you want to integrate.

Once done, you can personalize the newsletter with your banner, text introduction and footer and then send it to all of your contacts in Gmail, or to your subscribers lists inside MailChimp, ConstantContact and other mail delivery services.

N.B.: A Google Chrome plugin also allows you to easily clip and grab any content directly from any web page and easily integrate it inside your curated newsletter.

Curation involves people — those who have both the skills and the knowledge to piece together their various collections.
