This source describes forces that are predicted to be shifting drastically and will have large impact on the IT industry, these forces are interconnected and can be called the nexus of forces, these forces are composed by mobile, social, cloud and information. Besides the nexus of forces, there are also other trends  that are identified such as 3D printing, smart machines and software-defined anything. These trends are really relevant as they are also gathered based on important factors such as risk of being late to adopt and the need for major investment. The trends being listed here also correspond with some general facts such as Facebook being one of the most successful website (company) is a combination of social, mobile, and information factors.

These apps are already integral as the delivery mechanism to consumers and their effect will continue to grow in the coming years. By 2015 most apps will synchronize, collect  and analyze deep data about their user and their social graph. By 2017, wearable devices will drive 50% of total app interaction, mobile users will also provide personalized data streams to more than 100 apps and services every day.

Smart machines are predicted to be disruptive as it can do anything that humans thought are only possible to do by humans such as driving safely in a crowded public highway with speed nearing to 70 mph. Smart machines are composed into three classes which are movers, sages, and doers. Between these 3 classes they can in the future, replace jobs that were previously believed only doable by humans such as taxi drivers. It is basically the industrial revolution only on a larger scale, where not only grunt workers which are replaced by machines but other higher levels of work which needs a higher degree of thinking can be replaced by machines. Smart Machines will be the most disruptive technology so far even individuals will be forced to use smart machines to increase their value in front of their employer if smart machine use are common.

The personal cloud era provides users with flexibility with the devices they use for daily activities, while at the same time, leveraging the strengths of each device. In the end this will increase user satisfaction and productivity. In the personal cloud era there will be a power shift from devices toward services. Users are now empowered by the internet and social media, and now can outfit their devices their own way. The article states "The personal cloud is not a single thing. Rather, it encompasses the unique collection of services, Web destinations, and connectivity that will become the home of users' computing and communication activities." It summarizes the article perfectly in my opinion and is a welcomed advancement for the consumer

This article predicts that 3D printing will have significant impact towards all organizations especially those in the retail industry.

3D printing as defined by the article is "an additive technique that uses a device to create physical objects from digital models." By 2017 the 3D printer market will be a hundred times greater according to the prediction made ($288 million to $5.7billion). However there is a barrier of entry to this market which is most consumer won't have the awareness, tools or skills to make a 3D-printed part. Another controversy to 3D printing is that the 3D-printed part may have an inferior quality. However the benefits of 3D printing which is  "manufacturing of the ideal design" cannot be ignored as shown in the market growth prediction.
