You can’t motivate students with technology because technology alone isn’t motivating. Worse yet, students are almost always ambivalent toward digital tools. While you may be completely jazzed by the interactive whiteboard in your classroom or the wiki that you just whipped up, your kids could probably care less.

On the uncritical use and acceptance of technology in teaching

Are teachers and trainers asking themselves often enough when they plan to use technology to do a specific learning activity whether it is for the right reasons, and whether the use of the functionality or tool in question is a sound, sensible or even desirable methodological choice, or whether, irrespective of the many reported benefits of getting learners to use technology in lessons, it is in fact the most efficient and effective use of the learners and the teacher's time (and money)?
